Maybe you have an awesome circle of friends that has been there in the great times of your life and also been there on the crazy days. Together you may have weathered childbirth and potty training. Cooking disasters and questionable fashion choices. Painting life together and picking up the pieces when things fall apart.
Sometimes we get it wrong. Sometimes friends fail us, or we fail them. No one is perfect, and imperfection can hurt. And as girls those hurts can stick with us for a long time.
We get that.
The danger is when we decide that alone is better than together; when we decide trying is too hard; and when we choose to stay home rather than try one more time.
We're not promising that we will get it right every time at Westside. We can't promise that all your relationship needs will be met. We're human too.
But what we are hoping is that as we all honestly ask God for the simple gift of good relationships, that He will be faithful to provide them. Not that we have to manufacture perfect friends, but that He will meet one of our deepest needs: to live in a community.
