In olden times (and we are talking about pre-Dale times here!) women gathered down at the stream to wash their clothes. That was the task that called them there, but the function really reached beyond the practical.
These times down by the water gave women opportunities to work together and, almost as importantly, chances to discuss life. Sisters discussed fears, mothers shared hurts, grandmothers gave wisdom and the little girls caught it all.
Now there was no doubt some gossip at these laundry sessions, such is the nature of the tongue. But if we look at the good, we see that there was also a positive impact on generations as they listened and learned about the hard stuff.
How do we do that in a Maytag world? Not sure any of us is ready to lug the laundry down to the Indian River and have at it!
So that's why there is The Well, Women's Ministries at Westside.
Simply put: providing opportunities for women to gather, share, listen, learn and walk life together.
